Itineraries

Here are our trip itineraries for Newport, The Southern Maine Coast, Plymouth and of course Boston’s ORIGINAL Martha’s Vineyard Day trip! HAVE FUN!

NEWPORT
7:15-7:45 Hotel pickups.
7:45-9:45 Drive to Newport Rhode Island, including a coffee/restroom stop. We will travel by way of historic Fall River, Massachusetts (time permitting).
9:45-10:00 Arrive at Newport’s Cliff Walk. Guests have 2 hours in this area to experience both a half-mile portion of the Cliff walk, and a tour of Newport’s most famous mansion, the Breakers (Summer home of Cornelius Vanderbilt II.)
11:45 Reboard the bus at the Breakers parking lot.
11:45-12:45 Narrated tour of Newport aboard the bus, including views of Gilded-age mansions and the famous Ocean Drive.
12:45-3:15 Free time in Newport’s old Colonial downtown and waterfront for lunch, shopping, and exploring. Discount admission to the International Tennis Hall of Fame is available for guests who choose to go there during this time.
3:15 Return to the bus drop-off location for a short drive to the Marble House (11 million-dollar summer cottage of American socialite Alva Vanderbilt).
3:30-4:30 Time to tour Marble House and Alva’s Chinese Tea house overlooking the Cliff Walk.
4:30 Depart for the return trip to Boston.

MAINE
7:15-7:45 Hotel pickups.
7:45-8:30 Driving north to Seabrook, New Hampshire for a coffee/restroom stop.
8:40 Proceed to York, Maine with a brief stop at Long Sands Beach (time permitting), then on to the Nubble, York’s historic lighthouse (the most photographed lighthouse in America) to enjoy the view and blueberry muffins at Fox’s.
9:55-10:15 Follow the Maine coastline to Perkins Cove, a historic working fishing cove in Ogunquit. Tickets can be purchased in advance for the lobster boat tour at Perkins Cove or as available on arrival, for the 10:30 a.m. tour only. Guests may walk the famous Marginal Way, or visit the quaint shops and galleries.
11:30-12:00 Depart Perkins Cove and arrive in Kennebunkport around noon. Guests have free time in this scenic waterfront town for lunch, shopping, and exploring on their own.
2:15 Meet at the trolley stop for a one-hour guided trolley tour of Kennebunkport.
3:45 Return to your bus drop-off location for the return trip to Boston.

PLYMOUTH
7:15-7:45 Hotel pickups.
7:45-8:10 Drive to the City of Quincy to view “Peacefield/Old House” (Summer Whitehouse of the Adams’)
8:30 Arrive at the “Church of the Presidents,” burial place of the Adams’ and their wives.
9:00 A visit to the Adams’ birthplaces.
9:30-10:30 We drive past Abigail Adams’ birthplace in Weymouth, and follow the scenic coastal route through the historic New England communities of Hingham, Cohasset, and Scituate (with narration). We stop to view the Scituate Lighthouse.
10:30 A coffee/restroom break at beautiful Scituate Harbor.
10:45-11:45 Travel to Plymouth, with a historical narration on both the English Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Indigenous peoples.
11:45-2:30 Starting with an on-board tour of the replica ship Mayflower II, guests then have free time in Downtown Plymouth and its waterfront area for lunch, shopping, and exploring on their own.
2:30 Reboard the bus for the short drive to the Plimoth-Patuxet museum (voted by USA newspaper #1 outdoor museum in the entire United States).
4:00 A short drive to the Forefathers’ monument, arriving 4:15.
4:30 Depart for the return trip to Boston.

MARTHA’S VINEYARD
6:15-6:30 Hotel Pickups
630-830 Bus transportation to Cape Cod, including a coffee/restroom stop. (Light narration is included on the bus ride.)
9:00-9:35 Ferry ride from Falmouth to Martha’s Vineyard.
9:40-9:45 Board the Island tour bus (if optional tour is purchased).
9:45-12:45 3 hour narrated island tour.
12:45-3:15 Free time for lunch, shopping, and exploring on your own.
3:15-3:30 Make your way back to the ferry boarding area.
3:45-4:20 Ferry ride back to Falmouth
4:30 Our bus departs the ferry dock in Falmouth for the return trip to Boston.
6:30-7:00 Hotel returns in Boston. (Return times are always subject to traffic and may be earlier or later.)
